A month ago I issued a post entitled ‘Help secure long term funding for cycling’. It was about the CTC encouraging cyclists to email their MP to support an amendment to the Infrastructure Bill which was due be debated in Parliament on 26 January. The amendment would help secure a long term future for cycling.
Nearly 6,000 CTC members and supporters emailed their MPs, urging them to support the inclusion of the amendment calling for a Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy.
The following Monday, Parliament voted through this amendment to the Infrastructure Bill; I issued a post ‘Securing long term funding for cycling’ about it.
The latest news is that Royal Assent has been granted for a new law that commits the Government to a Cycling and Walking Strategy. Please Click Here to read more details in the February issue of CTC’s ‘Cycle Campaign News’.
