Date Friday 4th to Friday 11th September for the entire trip or
Friday 4th to Tuesday 8th September for the channel hopper to Honfleur.
Summary This is a new kind of cycling trip for the club as it starts with a channel hopper to Honfleur, one of the most attractive towns in Normandy, and finishes with an optional three days of cycling along the Normandy coast which includes a 2-night stopover in Bayeux. This trip will be supported.
Ferry We’ll be using Brittany Ferries.
Out: Overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre. Leaves at 23:30 and arrives at 08:30 next morning.
Return : Ferry from Ouistreham to Portsmouth. Leaves at 16:30 and arrives at 21:15. Either on the Tuesday for the channel hopper or the Friday for the entire trip.
Cost Estimate Total cost:
Channel Hopper: £312 if sharing a room, £443 for single occupancy of a room.
Entire Trip: £453 if sharing a room, £674 for sigle room occupancy of a room.
These figures will vary depending on the exchange rate and actual hotel room prices at the time of this trip.
Cycling Either 3 days of cycling in Normandy for the channel hopper or 6 days of cycling in Normandy for the entire trip.
Fri, 4th Sept: Overnight ‘Brittany Ferries’ ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre. Leaves at 23:30 and arrives at 08:30 next morning.
Sat, 5th Sept: Cycle from Le Havre to Honfleur, via the Pont de Normandie, about 15 miles (24 kms). After ‘elevenses’, spend the remainder of the day cycling or spend some time sightseeing in Honfleur.
Sunday and Monday: Two full days of cycling.
Tues, 8th Sept: Cycle to Ouistreham, about 40 to 45 miles.
Those doing just the channel hopper cycle into the ferry port. Ferry leaves at 16:30, arrives in Portsmouth at 21:15.
Those doing the cycling trip to Bayeux go to our hotel in Ouistreham.
Weds, 9th Sept: Cycle to Bayeux, where we’ll stay for 2 nights, via the Normandy coast visiting some of the D-Day beaches and Arromanches. Whilst in Bayeux you may wish to visit the Bayeux Tapestry.
Thurs, 10th Sept: A full day of cycling.
Fri 11th Sept: Cycle to Ouistreham Ferry Port, about 40 to 45 miles. Ferry leaves at 16:30, arrives in Portsmouth at 21:15.
Other Considerations Maximum number of cyclists is 12.
